There is no airport in Yalova.
Yalova has a rich and diverse history throughout the ages. The first traces of settlement date back to between 8,000 and 5,500 B.C., and although there is no precise information about the city's initial foundation, there is a strong belief that it was established by the Bithynians. The city came under the rule of the Roman Empire in 74 B.C. and, following the division of the Roman Empire, became part of the Eastern Roman Empire, also known as the Byzantine Empire. Throughout its history, Yalova gained prominence for its famous thermal springs, which have been adorned not only with baths but also with depictions related to health and well-being, dating back to the 12th century B.C. Especially during the Byzantine Empire, these thermal springs became a popular center for relaxation and healing. After the Byzantine Empire, Yalova came under the rule of the Seljuk Empire but suffered significant damage during the Crusades. Joining the Ottoman Empire in 1326, the city fell under Greek occupation during the War of Independence but declared its independence in 1921. Initially a district of Istanbul in 1929, Yalova gained independent provincial status in 1995 after separating from Istanbul.
